SUBROSA SALVADOR

Bike Test: Subrosa Simone Barraco Salvador

Website: Subrosabrand.com
Distro: Seventies.co.uk

Who is the brand? Subrosa

About the bike:

The Salvador is one of two completes from Subrosa with Simone Barraco’s name on it – the other being the higher specced Novus. The Salvador allows the rider on a budget to have their own piece of Simone inspired quality at a fraction of the price. The quality is still high with the frame coming decked out with sealed hubs, removable brake hardware and 30mm offset forks with tapered legs. The colours look bang on, with a dark gold fading in to black, topped off with the embossed headtube badge and seat stay bridge. Geometry wise, as you’d expect from a bike designed by a street rider, the Salvador is definitely street orientated, especially with the offset forks to make the steering all the more snappy and to help lock the nose wheelies in place. All in all the Subrosa Salvador is a good quality bike on a beginner’s budget.

Who rides for them?

Hoang Tran, Kyle Hart, Lahsaan Kobza, Scott Ditchburn, Mark Mulville, Nick Bullen, Simone Barraco, Joris Coulomb, Kevin Kalkoff.

What’s their history and where are the brand from?

Subrosa was started back in September 2006 by Ryan Sher and Ron Bonner. Based in Florida they set out to simply produce high-end parts and complete bikes. Eight years on and they have an international line up of some of the best riders out there, the latest of which is Kevin Kalkoff who possesses the sort of style most of us can only dream of.

Words from flow team member and test pilot Emerson Morgan:

It feels so amazing to be part of the Subrosa crew. I grew up watching all the dudes ride hard, Ditchburn was a big influence on my style of riding when I was starting out so to be able to go on trips and ride with him and the rest of the team is just a surreal experience! Brighton Ain’t Ready was so good, everyone smashed it, all the guys made me feel right at home as soon as I got there! Can’t wait for the premier and for everyone to see what went down. I’ve always rated the whole vibe and style of Subrosa, all the graphics, bikes and clothes are right up my street! Wouldn’t have been possible without Scott, Seventies and Ryan over at Subrosa, so thanks guys, it means a lot to me! Can’t wait to see what the future holds!

What do the manufacturers say about it?

These aftermarket quality bikes are loaded with top selling Subrosa, Shadow, and Rant parts and have details like butted chromoly tubing, female axles, CNC fork steer tubes. Top that off with Simone’s personal colour way and graphics and the best just got better.

What are the stand our features of the bike?

I loved the Subrosa shield on the front of the frame and the seats the perfect size for me. Definitely going to get myself a pair of those tyres too.

What is the geometry like and what is the weight of the bike?

It felt a lot like my bike to be fair, a real solid feel to it. The way you stand over the bike makes it perfect for nozzas. Size of the back end makes manual 180s and 3’s feel so good, just flicks out easy!

Is there anything that could be improved on the bike?

In all honestly I didn’t really have a problem with anything on it, rode real nice and I would happily ride it again!

About the rider:

Name: Emerson Morgan
Age: 20

Favourite thing about this bike: The bike looks amazing; the two-tone fade paint sets it apart from most completes but still looks super clean!

Emerson loves a bit of quick tech. Manual to manual 180 on a communal Ping-Pong table.
