FITBIKECO DUGAN 2018 – REVIEW

Fitbikeco was founded in late 1999 by Robbie Morales and S&M’s Chris Moeller in Santa Ana, California. Since the beginning, Fit has had a legendary team of riders – Mike Aitken, Van Homan, Brian Foster, Shawn Mac, Tom Dugan, Justin Inman, Edwin Delarosa… The list goes on.

In 2010, Morales left Fit to start Cult, taking a few team riders such as Chase Hawk and Dakota Roche with him, but Fit took this all in its stride.

A number of excellent full-length team videos (F-it, Fit Life, Stay Fit, Holy Fit) have helped build Fit’s legendary reputation, both as a brand and as a group of talented bike riders.

With S&M’s plentiful industry experience backing it the whole way, Fitbikeco has remained a formidable brand that offers a full range of USA-made parts as well as a huge range of more affordable complete bikes made in Taiwan.

“There’s something about the colour scheme that gives the impression of a custom build.”

Here we have one of their 2018 models, the Tom Dugan signature. Tom Dugan is known for being a pretty wacky character who blasts his bike halfway to the moon on a regular basis. Perhaps this steed will give you the means to achieve one of those things.

This bike doesn’t immediately look like a complete bike… There’s something about the colour scheme that gives the impression of a custom build. Perhaps it’s the chrome bars and coloured tyres, there’s a welcome element of randomness to it. Clever work by Fit on that one!

It also comes in black, but we think this trans gold paintwork looks a treat, you can see all the welds nicely – another thing that makes the Dugan 2018 seem like anything but a complete bike. For your £450 you can expect full 4130 chromoly construction, sealed bearings all round, plus a few key aftermarket products. We’ve got Odyssey Twisted pedals, which is a nice nod to one of Tom Dugan’s other sponsors, a super smart Fit Café tripod seat, and Fit Savage grips.

A short and snappy frame, bold colours, that aftermarket look and some quality parts spell out a solid bike here from Fit.

RRP: £449.99
