Fresh Out The Box: Parts – Issue 164

Each month we take look at some fresh new product and tell you guys what we think about it. Here’s the parts section from issue 164.

Stolen

Combo seat/post
This is really clean and tidy from the guys at Stolen. Their own seat/post combo system on a super lightweight thermalite post. The whole thing weighs in at 7.75 oz, which is cool. These are surprisingly really durable too, you’d be hard pushed to do any damage to this set up, bar the usual scuffs and grazes. More good quality products at the right price from Stolen BMX. RRP: £29.99

Fit

Clubman bars
These are the new Tommy Dugan signature club bars from Fit, and right away you’ll notice the matching graphics from his TD350 frame that we featured in this issue. All the colours match too, so the frame and bar combo is a no brainer if the specs meet your requirements. They are: 100% 4Q baked heat treated 4130 crmo tubing, straight gauge .065 wall tubing with dual radius bends and a large top bend to increase strength. 8.25” rise, 28” wide, 12 degree back and 1 degree up sweep they weigh in at 2.0 lbs and made in the USA. RRP: £59.99

Cinema

P3 peg
These have been on the market for a few months now and have been proven to be not only great value for money, but also last a while too. The P3 peg from Cinema comes in at a super cheap £8.99 per peg! You’d be forgiven for thinking they’d last about 3 grinds before they were done! Wrong, these last a long time. We’ve seen many a Leeds local with them, and have all given good reviews. The buy cheap, buy twice rule does not apply to these pegs, Cinema just know how to do it right. Also available in Black! RRP: £8.99

Cinema

777 rim
These are sick. The Cinema 777’s are double wall construction 6061 aluminium, with welded seam’s and weighing in at 18.1oz. They come in Black anodized, Chrome plated, Deep Purple, Mint, White and Yellow. Every single base covered with one of the most popular, tried and tested rims on the market. Cinema continue to kill it. RRP: £54.99

T1

Coffee bar ends
They days of the aluminium bar end are finally up. Especially as T-1 have these neat nylon versions available. Joe Rich knows how to make a cracking cup of coffee, this is proven, as on the side he’s placed a mug of the hot stuff for you all to admire. These also come with his signature grips too. RRP: £2.99

Kink

Orion rim
Weighing in at 16.1 oz these things are nice and light. But will they hold up to todays riding? Of course they will, it’s Kink! Extruded from special grade 6000 series aluminium with an hard anodized finish for better braking. 16mm low profile design and 36mm wide profile for added strength these aren’t going anywhere in a hurry. Drilled out for cross lacing spokes and finished with a welded seam. Super tidy from Kink. RRP: £69.99

Wethepeople

Patron bars
How good does this new Bronze colourway look from Wethepeople? I’ve seen it on the Irish frame too and again it looked dialled. Here we have the Patron bars, full liquid post heat treatment on 4130 “M2” crmo. 7/8” multi butted tubing with a choice in rise, from 8.25”, 8.5” and 8.75” with a width of 28.15”. 12 degree back and 3 degree up sweep they weigh in at 1.67 lbs. When held aloft doing the imaginary x-up they felt awesome, with spot on geometry. And, as ever with WTP they look dope. RRP: £54.99

Eclat

Slash pedals
The Slash pedals from Eclat are real slim. They’re a super lightweight design and have a knurled top surface for extra grip. These should last a touch longer than your average plastic pedals as they’re made from injection moulded nylon and fiberglass mix. They come with a crmo axle and are available in Midnight Grey, Teal, Orange and White. RRP: £15.99

Ilegal

Amplo 2.35 Tyre
This is a huge leap forward in terms of tyres. Certainly value for money wise. Today we’re seeing tyres hit the £35 mark. Not through any fault of the brands, just the material costs and the current economic climate dictate these things. They don’t stop for the humble BMXer. Ilegal however, have gone back to the drawing board and produced a range of tyres that not only look dope and perform well, they retail at £19.99 each. A throw back to the mid naughties. We were psyched on these in the office. They’ll go up to 110 PSI if that’s your thing, and they draw elements from old favourites from years passed (the V Monster influence can clearly be seen here). They have an awesome matt finish and come in a bunch of coloured walls too. RRP: £19.99

Bone Deth

Vibrator pivotal
More craziness from the guys over at Bone Deth. This reminds me of the days when we used to re-cover our Primo Haemorrhoid seats. Leopard print was out of my reach at that time, I think I opted for stock camo. Not to worry though, Bone Deth have it “covered” with the Vibrator pivotal. Nice slim design, on the trusted pivotal system. This also comes in “Jamie Mauri Spider Web on Black Leather” so the options are endless. RRP: £34.99

Proper

Stebson Grips
Right away I’m a fan of the Stebson. Not because of it’s well worked design, durability or super comfy krayton rubber. Nope, because these are named after the Grange Hill bully Gripper Stebson. For those who don’t remember him, a simple YouTube search will make it clear. These initially look similar to the popular Proper Team grips, however on closer inspection the guys over at Proper have produced a new grip, from the ground up. They may look like the conventional mushroom style, but they have a totally different feel as the “fins” are much thinner. This makes them really comfy and mould into your hand with perfection. They come with the customary flange, but have the cut lines to trim them down. Marry that with a pair of touch nylon end plugs and you’re in business. RRP: £8.99

ANML

Big Four bars
The ANML Bob Scerbo signature 4 piece bars have to be one of the most iconic BMX parts of all time! Style for miles and still really popular. ANML decided to make them bigger, to move with the times if you will. The Big 4 bars have gone up to 8.25” rise, 5 degree up and 11 degree back sweep. These are not a straight switch, as the OG Bob bars are still available. But it does give us all that option to go king size if required. Ours came through in Chrome, and it’s just not getting any better than that. RRP: £69.99
