British brand Proper Bike Co, founded by Carlo Griggs, has offered a range of fine BMX parts and accessories since 2002. Its UK line-up includes Sam Cunningham, James Curry, Dan Figg, Jordan Godwin, Jamie Guile, Josh James, Shaun Jinks, Sean Kelly and Mike Miller, plus young Latvian star Janis Cunculis.
Proper’s line of products features forks, bars, stems, hubs and rims, sprockets, brakes, grips, headsets and bottom brackets, seat clamps and seating. There are also two complete wheels – the 1175 g K7/Microlite rear, with Proper Magnalite cassette hub, Proper Microlite 6061 rim and 14mm hollow chromoly axle, and the 950 g Microlite front, with Proper Microlite front hub, matching 6061 Proper Microlite rim and 10mm chromoly axle.
Completing Proper’s offering are a range of frames. A standout is the ‘BSH v2’, the second incarnation of the company’s first ‘street’ frame, the ‘BSH’ (Brick Shit House) – although it works equally well on all terrain, it’s definitely built with strength and agility in mind. Other frames are the ‘Trawlerman’, designed with classic BMX geometry to work on all terrains, and Miller’s signature ‘TTL’, now with 71 degree seat tube and a standover height of 8.7″.
Proper riders regularly feature in great web edits, such as Sean Kelly’s unique take on skatepark riding for RideUKbmx´s ‘One’ series in 2014, with ridiculous front wheel tech as well as some good old fashioned blasting.
