Tom Cookson and Alessandro Donaggio linked up in the north west of England for 5 days of tech lines and good times. Here’s the result!
Q&A with Tom & Ale
– How was the trip?
TOM: The trip was amazing, it’s the first time I’d met Alessandro since being put on Proper and he turned out to be a sick guy, just full of positive energy. It defo put a positive spin on the whole trip.
ALE: The trip has been really amazing. It was my first time in the UK and I had the honour to ride and meet amazing riders and people. It was the first time meeting Tom, the newest addiction at the Proper team. Super stoked to have him on board.
– Where did you go?
TOM: We stayed pretty much around the North West for the majority of the time, Ale stayed in a hotel in Wigan where I live so we did trips to Manchester, Liverpool, Rampworx, new bird DIY, boneyard. We also went down to the first round of Backyard Jam at Asylum so we had a nice mixture of indoor and outdoor riding.
ALE: We travelled a lot with the cars, we rode a lot of different spots and saw different cities like Wigan, Manchester and Liverpool. Then we also visited the Backyard Jam, so many friends and the vibes of the jam were amazing.
– How long were you on the road?
TOM: 5 days in total, mooching around to skateparks and street. We got rained off on the first couple of days so that’s when we rode Boneyard and Rampworx.
ALE: The trip had to be of 5 days but my plane had delay while arriving in Manchester, then we had one full day at the Backyard jam and the last day my flight was kinda early so at the end we have been riding and filming for 3 days.
– What was your favourite spot?
TOM: It’s hard to pick a favourite, but we had the best times just cruising around our local spots in Wigan, getting to see what a fresh set of eyes would make of them, then straight to Paradiso Pizza afterwards for a top pizza. We spent too much time in that takeaway haha!
ALE: I loved every spot we checked, UK streets are really different from what I’m used to here in Barcelona. But I think the spot I liked more is the one of the last clip of the edit. I think we could have rode that spot for days.
– What’s your favourite clip in the video?
TOM: My favourite clip is my feeble to manny whip on Liverpool docks. It’s not often I bang one of those out so it always feels special.
ALE: The clip I enjoyed more is the line of the wall ride, slide to bonk on the trashcan and the bunny hop the cone, the one in the streets of Wigan we filmed on the night. The early morning of the same day I was walking there waiting for the boys and saw this super raw street full of glass that just looks perfect to hit.
– Which clip(s) took the longest to pull?
TOM: The feeble manny whip for me.
ALE: I think the clip that took longer for me has been the combo on the Liverpool ledge withe the 180 smith to smith nose ice easy 180.
– Where are you going on your next trip?
TOM: I’m heading out to Barcelona in August to go and ride with Alessandro again, so hopefully we will have a sequel of this video coming, this time filmed over there!
ALE: The next trip will be for Tom at the moment, he is going to pull up to Barcelona, it will be a sick week.
