The 2022 Silverstone MotoGP was host to the Monster Triple Challenge for its debut outside of the US.
Monster flew in a handful of team riders from the states to compete: Daniel Sandoval, Bryce Tryon and Jeremy Mallot to name a few. A few international riders topped up the list with a host of UK riders as well. Tom Russell, Ben Towle, Dec Brooks, Kaine Mitchell, Jack McGuire and Jude Jones made sure the UK was well represented.
The jumps were no joke. Built by the DarkFest series builders, the lips towered 10ft tall. The biggest the Triple series has seen to date.
Once the savage headwind had died down, the lads set about it. To my surprise nobody came up short. Cranking down the massive roll in seemed to be the speed of choice.
Flip combos were thrown down here there and everywhere. Standout for me was Leandro Morales doing a super flip to turndown and Jaie Toohey’s front bike flip.
Source BMX had a cash for tricks jam which saw judges handing out £20s and even £50s to riders who caught their attention.
The finals were a mass of combos. With half of the eight UK riders making finals. Stoked.
The podium saw Sandoval in 1st, Dec 2nd and Tom van den Bogaard in third.
Jaie Toohey won best trick with a front bike flip superman. Wild.
I hope to see this event return to the UK as the scale of the jumps and the tricks able to be thrown down on them are nothing short of spectacular!
