Haro has a small but stacked team. Five key riders: Dennis Enarson, Mike Gray, Chad Kerley, Ryan Nyquist and Matthias Dandois. You may remember that last year, some changes were made… Long time team manager Colin McKay moved on to pastures new and two members of the team followed suit. What’s left is this core of five dudes steered by new TM Joey Cobbs. Because of the changes last year, the team missed their annual filming trip in 2018, so this year they were pretty keen to go somewhere with loads of spots and make the most of it. Cue the Haro Lisbon trip.
The guys got in touch with me a few weeks before the trip and asked if I was around to show them some of the spots I knew, shoot a few photos and pretty much just hang out for the good times. I happily obliged! Lisbon spot lord Hugo Almeida joined too, sharing some excellent spots from his wealth of knowledge.
It was a pretty long jaunt for the riders. 10 days away exploring Lisbon in the sunshine – sweet, right? Well, it was a kind of good and bad thing… Good because they had loads of time, bad because they knew they had loads of time! It seemed to be that for the first half of the trip, the dudes were pretty relaxed, thinking, “We’ve got ages to get enough footage.” About halfway through the trip I think they realised that they were suddenly halfway through the trip! It forced them to step it up a notch. This is no bad thing – it made for some very productive days and I know they were all pretty stoked on what they did in that time.
“Lisbon is typically pretty nice but the spring time has unreliable weather, no doubt about it…”
Haro were blessed with the weather on their trip. Lisbon is typically pretty nice but the spring time has unreliable weather, no doubt about it. Somehow the guys arrived in the sun and left in the sun, and apart from a few days that were a bit windier than we would have liked, it was all plain sailing.
If you haven’t yet seen the trip video, scroll down and hit play. Check out my photo gallery below – riding, BTS and incidentals shot alongside the main photos Joey Cobblestone was taking care of. Cheers to Haro for a sweet trip!
