BATTLE OF HASTINGS 2017: Photo Gallery

Battle of Hastings 2017 was a tour de force, that’s for sure. Forty-four amazing riders, one skatepark, one huge crowd. Our man Adam Lievesley came through with this gallery featuring some of the best moments from the weekend.

As Darryl Nau said, it’s hard to put into words how it felt to be in that building at the weekend. The atmosphere was pumped, the riding was wild, the beers kept everyone loose… What more could you ask for?

In our event report video (above), Corey Walsh mentions that a lot of riders were comparing the vibe of Battle of Hastings to that of the legendary Backyard Jams – quite an accolade. Corey obviously wasn’t present at any of the Backyards, but riders like Gary Young and Chris Doyle backing him up mean you know it’s legit.

Marc and Rich Moore have done incredibly well to create such a beast of an event – it’s genuinely a highlight on the BMX calendar. In Hastings, no less. True UK stoke.

The Format

11 Teams
4 Riders on each Team

44 Riders
2 Days

The judging was a big job. Not only did the judges have to keep track of teams of four riders, they also had to take into account the Etnies Best Trick contest and the plaza edits for each team.

(The plaza edits will be public over the coming weeks.)

With all that scoring taken into account, Sunday afternoon saw the top four teams riding in the final.

Team Dennis Enarson, Team Kriss Kyle, Team Larry Edgar and Team Gary Young. Check the finals highlights video HERE.

Gary Young being MVP. Stupid wallride transfer.
Larry Edgar, doing what he does.
Brad McNicol did tricks nobody else did. 180 Nac bowl to bowl...
...and wallride to flair!
Jack Clark may have spent a night in a cell over the weekend. That's what we heard.
The lesser spotted Matt Cordova barspin!
Always good to see a Doyle invert.
Dak, wallride 360 footplant fakie... Mega.
Andy Zeiss was stoked.
Chase Hawk and Ruben at the Etnies signing desk.
Greg Illingworth and Sergio Layos with the double act.
Enarson! Flipwhip transfer with ease.
Lots of people were very happy to see Matt Roe riding the bowl. All the style.
Dennis, wallride whip.
Matt Cordova, textbook.
Sergio.
Alex Hiam dipping a 540.
Larry going nuts again.
Hint: Corey Walsh goes fast!
Cordova.
Kevin Peraza rules!
Kriss Kyle, super boosted step through.
