ODYSSEY TRAVEL TOOL – REVIEW

Odyssey have got it dialled. Their product design has to be among the best in BMX, they’ve pioneered several technologies and seem to hold more patents in their inventions than many other brands. It’s been said that Odyssey (and their family of GSPORT and Sunday) are at the forefront of BMX product design, and we wouldn’t really argue with that.

With their clever design background, it’s a wonder Odyssey have never made a multi-tool before. Maybe they were simply taking their time, refining it, seeing the potential flaws in other brands’ efforts, before launching their answer into the world.

Since its launch in spring 2017, we’ve already seen a lot of these tools around. Most riders know that you can’t really go wrong with Odyssey gear, so this thing has sold in good numbers.

Obviously, as it’s called the Travel Tool, this is perfect companion for a BMX trip. When you fly with your bike, you need an assortment of tools to put it back together when you arrive. The Odyssey tool has got you covered.

There’s a 17mm socket, nice and deep for all lengths of pegs, with an integrated storage compartment. Depending on what pedals you run, you’ll either need a 15mm or 17mm. This tool has both and you can swap them in and out to suit your setup. All the allen keys you’re likely to need are here, too, with 4, 5, 6 and 8mm. It’s worth noting that the tools themselves feel nicely machined and dependable. That’s a welcome quality, considering how affordable this tool is.

One of Odyssey’s main points about the Travel Tool is that it’s light and easy to carry, but big enough to provide enough leverage to tighten everything down properly. A good compromise!
