ODYSSEY BROC RAIFORD GRIPS – REVIEW

“Broc Raiford can bunnyhop over a house.” Yeah, pretty much. Broc approaches street riding with power and precision. He can get his pegs on some very tall stuff, hop onto / over things most people wouldn’t have a hope in hell of coming close to, and somehow does all this without it seeming like too much of an effort. Put simply, he has pop, that’s for sure.

To manage all his explosive hopping and pegs to over hard 360s, Broc needs a good solid grip on his handlebars. Something nice to hold onto and lift towards the sky on the regular. The guys at Odyssey were kind enough to grant him his own signature grip – check it out.

Odyssey have got it dialled. Their product design has to be among the best in BMX, they’ve pioneered several technologies and seem to hold more patents in their inventions than many other brands. It’s been said that Odyssey (and their family of GSPORT and Sunday) are at the forefront of BMX product design, and we wouldn’t really argue with that.

Broc’s signature grip is 160mm long (standard, decent) and has some nice rope details on the ends to tie in with Broc’s nautical theme seen elsewhere in his range of signature products.

It’s a nice grip, classic ridged shape. It feels good to hold, looks decent, has only a subtle ‘ODSY’ logo and that rope detailing. Not that the ropes are thicker towards the bar end, which makes sense – you don’t want to be holding onto too much old rope on the inside edge. These grips come flangeless, so they’re ideal for the odd barspin or two, as specified by Broc himself.

They come in a range of colours, from standard black or gum to some nice swirled colours, like the white and black one pictured here. A decent grip choice from Odyssey.
