HARO XX NYQUIST FRAME – REVIEW

Here at Ride UK, we like to give credit to things that are a little different to the norm. If we’re being frank, a fair amount of BMX products are very similar, even frames. Cue the Haro XX frame…

When we saw this Haro XX, the Ryan Nyquist signature frame, it divided opinion. Yes, it’s different. Very different! Looking at all the little details and the general look of the frame, there’s clearly some mid-school influence in there, as Ryan himself explains:

“Seeing as this frame commemorates my 20th anniversary of riding with Haro, I wanted it to reflect the design of my most favorite signature bikes I had, while modernizing the geometry and technology to have it ride like a modern day frame.

“When we saw the Haro XX Nyquist frame, it divided opinion. Yes, it’s very different…”

It has a taller, 9.25” standover height, comes in 20.5”, 20.75”, and 21”, and has some really cool hydroform designs on the top tube that, again, throw the look of the frame back to that original design we wanted to tap into. The paint job was one of my favorites from the past as well, the Translucent Blue, which turned out really amazing! I also helped design the decals for the frame.

The frame rides amazing, and feels solid and stable underneath me when jumping and airing, so I really couldn’t ask for more. I’m really happy with the end result, and it’s a pretty awesome way to celebrate 20 years with Haro.” –Ryan Nyquist

Haro’s history in BMX is long and rich. Undisputed pioneers of a lot of what we call Freestyle BMX, it was founder Bob Haro who moved across from racing into this new BMX movement in the late 1970s. 1981 saw Haro design the first freestyle-specific frame and fork, the Haro Freestyler, and the rest is history. These days, Haro remains a household name and supports a relatively small but absolutely savage team including Dennis Enarson, Chad Kerley, Jason Watts, Tyler Fernengel and, of course, Ryan Nyquist.

The XX frame then – throwback style, modern geometry and feel, great paintwork, interesting details, different!
