FITBIKECO FAF TYRE – REVIEW

It seems like the Fitbikeco FAF has been around forever. In the last 5 years or so, a hell of a lot of new tyres have been released – there’s a huge amount of choice out there. Despite this, the good old Fit FAF continues to be popular, we still see them up and down the land due to their great versatility and classic styling.

So… FAF? What does that mean? Easy… Fast as fuck.

The thing that first strikes you about the FAF tyre is how directional it is. It’s like an arrow. Clearly inspired by the original Flybikes Ruben tyre to some degree, the way the side blocks are cut out with the micro-knurling is a tried and true design feature. You’ll have more than enough traction and grip with the Fit FAF.

More goodness about the Fit FAF is the puncture resistant Kevlar belt and the tear resistant silkworm casing, something seen on several tyres now.

Let’s look at the tread pattern… There are two versions. On the 2.3” and 2.4”, you’ll find a lower profile tread. Not slick by anyone’s standards, but not too chunky either. These sizes also have micro knurling on the sidewalls to give better protection from grind damage.

On the 2.25” size, the tread pattern is stepped up a gear – it’s way more aggressive and actually sits further out, making the 2.25” effectively wider than the 2.3”. Strange but true. When these first came out, a lot of people would run the 2.25” at the front and the 2.1” at the rear. These days the wider sizes are more popular, but the quality design of the Fit FAF has stood the test of time.
