ECLAT STORM FORKS – REVIEW

Éclat, started in 2008, is a parts company run by the same guys as Wethepeople. They say that simplicity is at the heart of their approach to product design, and that they’re constantly moving forward and pushing the boundaries to create innovative and exciting BMX parts that last longer than ever.

Put simply, they know what they’re doing. Their design work is always on point, their videos are awesome and their team absolutely shreds. With the likes of Ty Morrow, Devon Smillie, Alex Kennedy, Dan Coller and Sean Burns (to name but a few) running Éclat parts, you know you can count on them.

The Éclat Storm Fork is the culmination of more than two years of research and development. Éclat wanted to make one of the strongest BMX forks possible and they’re now very proud to stand by this fork as their benchmark. They tested it very hard indeed, both in the lab and on the streets (thanks to their team of heavy hitters) and it stood up to the abuse.

Despite not looking overly beefy, the Storm Fork is in fact a beast. Its subtle appearance and low weight belie its great strength. Éclat say it’s a carefully calculated balance of tubing thickness and their own heat treating process that makes it so strong. They’re so certain of this, they back the fork with their lifetime warranty.

Let’s have some specs now. The Storm Fork is available with a choice of offsets, which is handy for people who have specific handling in mind. You can have a 30mm or 25mm offset – that’s traditional or short, depending on your preference. The fork leg is hydroformed, which not only gives it a super clean look, but also is reported to increase strength. There’s enough space for 2.5” tyres and it’s available in either black or chrome.
