One of the original names in freestyle BMX, Haro was founded way back in 1978 by BMX racer and aspiring entrepreneur Bob Haro, and the company has had a huge impact on both the world of BMX and American and global youth culture generally. One of its most famous bikes is the legendary ‘Freestyler’, launched in 1982 – built at the Torker facility in Fullerton, California, it was one of the first freestyle-specific frame-and-fork combinations ever made.
The company’s flagship model for 2015 is the Dennis Enarson-approved ‘SDv2’ complete. Equipped with the Haro ‘SDv2’ frame, and top-notch Demolition and MARKIT parts plus a rear coaster hub, this is a legit pro level bike right off the shelf, and is the first complete street-specific bike Haro has ever done with a free coaster.
Other completes include the ‘Plaza’, ‘Midway’ and ‘Boulevard’ models, plus a number of models in the entry-level ‘Downtown’ range including 16”, 18” and 24” wheel models. Also available from Haro is the ‘Lineage’ frame, as ridden by team riders Ryan Nyquist, Pat Casey and Dennis McCoy, and parts such as forks, stems, cranks, bars, wheels, tyres, bottom brackets, headsets, seats and pegs.
Over the years, Haro has helped many great riders make a name for themselves in the sport, such as Dave Nourie and Rick Molinterno. The current official Haro team is made up of heavy hitters Nyquist, Enarson, Casey and McCoy, plus Seth Klinger, Matthias Dandois, Jason Watts, Mike Gray and Tyler Fernengel.
