Onward. It’s the start of a new decade and we feel pretty well poised to begin the 2020s by shouting out some of the best up and coming UK riders. Some of these guys will already be on your radar, some won’t. We thoroughly recommend you shift those that aren’t, on! Hit the Instagram tags, easy done.
These are riders who have started to prove themselves in the final years of the 2010s. Ride UK has already covered the likes of Tom Russell, Stu Chisholm, Matt Harris, Ben Towle and Kaz Campbell quite extensively in the past couple of years, so you won’t see them on this list. We think of them as household names by now, so you’re probably already fans of theirs! They’re all shredders in any case.
Most of the following names have some kind of hook up or sponsor, but they’re not pro riders (yet). Thanks to events such as Backyard Jam, we saw many of these names come up and up first hand last year, even in that short 5 month span of the jam series. Read on, follow these guys, see what they do…
HENRY LOGAN
This guy popped up quickly and made quite an impact in 2019, to the point that he got signed up with Radio Bikes. An interesting style and choice of tricks, great natural ability and a decent talent for taking the piss out of contemporaries means he’s on our list.
JENSEN MURRAY
Scottish wizardry. Awesome bike control, especially on the front wheel. Jensen has properly magical nose wheelie balance, and I know because he cruised right past me on the front wheel several times at the Backyard Jam final. Jensen does it for Sunday Bikes and Odyssey through Backstreet Distribution.
HARRY SCHOFIELD
Dude is 10 years old and does backflips! Seriously, Harry does it all, from motocross to DH to BMX. Safe to say he’s comfortable on two wheels. Hooked up by Radio Bikes. He’s already sending things like flip can-cans, just imagine his riding towards the end of the decade…
JOE FOLEY
The absolute rail ride master from Hull. Seen slaying it at Dub Jams and Backyard Jams, Joe’s riding is precise and entertaining. Rides for BSD, Waller BMX Shop and DUB. Stoked to see what Joe does in the next few years.
ELLIS LLOYD
Stylish young gun from the midlands, repping wethepeople. Ellis is 15, can roast a transition, makes it look good, does a few well-chosen tricks… Keep your eye on this guy.
