About the bike:
Once again Wethepeople have nailed it, proving that entry-level bikes need not be ‘cheap’ or at least in their build quality. The Arcade is packed full of features, which a couple of years ago you’d only have seen on the higher end models, such as the sealed BB and tripod seat. My personal favourite feature is the 26T chainring. Gone are the days of 25/9 being the only ratio to run. A lot of people these days run harder gearing (myself included with 28/9); companies like Profile are supplying chainrings in single tooth increments and some race companies even supply half sizes (goodness knows how that works). This small step up is a nod in the forward-thinking direction and will show the rider that other options are out there and you can run whatever you’re comfortable with. As always, the styling is spot on with this one coming in Candy Green, with a Raw option also available, whatever you get up to on this bike, you’ll be guaranteed to look cool.
What’s their history and where are the brand from?
Wethepeople was founded in 1996 in Cologne, Germany. It all started like a lot of other bike brands; a bunch of friends making t-shirts to sell at contests to fund road trips; which eventually grew into bikes and hard goods. Almost 20 years later we are still based out of Cologne and making bikes that are designed to the highest quality with modern riders in mind.
What do the manufacturers say about it?
The Arcade may be closer to the entry-level point but don’t let that fool you, this is one dialled ride with a lot of cool features. The frame uses a sealed mid BB and Integrated headset and uses geometry borrowed off our PRO model frames. The bike is kitted out with the finest Salt components and even uses a new Mid padded Tripod seat. It’s the little features that make this bike so rad, like the colour faded hubs on the Raw version. This is one rad bike and an exceptional introduction to BMX.
What’s the bike intended for and who is it aimed at?
The bike is aimed for the entry to mid level rider. The Arcade comes with taller 8.5” bars and a Salt high-rise stem giving you plenty of room up front. It uses fatter tyres, and short technical geometry making it perfect for skatepark and street riding.
What is the geometry like and what is the weight of the bike?
It is a touch heavier than some completes, but the bike is solid as a rock and built with quality in mind rather than weight saving.
Is there anything that could be improved on the bike?
Honestly, we couldn’t think of anything that needs to be improved. It looks awesome and has some forward thinking parts like the 26T chainring. An outstanding bike for the money, which will withstand anything you throw at it. – David Paterson, WTP.
