I like this new Dan Lacey DLX frame for several reasons.
Firstly, I like Dan Lacey, I’ve hung out with the guy on numerous occasions and he’s an inspirational force to be around and always fun, he’s straight down line, no messing.
Secondly, Dan’s riding is incredible, it’s a perfect mix of tech and full throttle, balls out, B-M-X. So you know the bike beneath him has to be able to withstand it all, if it’s good enough for him, then it’ll laugh at what I can put it through.
Thirdly, it’s all in the detail. The finer details of this frame are faultless. The dropouts, have ground off welds with a perfectly positioned chain adjuster neatly tucked in there. Just above, on the seat stays, are some small embossed Federal logos, not a usual place for a logo but looks awesome. I’m stoked to still see the removable brake hardware. The seat clamp looks like a good old fashioned style one with a neat embossed logo again. Another Federal logo cut into the seat stay bridge with more of the logo action on the neat top and bottom gussets. This colour option is awesome and it’s all finished off perfectly with the understated yet perfectly complimentary stickers.
My final reason for liking this fame is a bit soppy. Basically, at the launch of his first frame, I met the Mrs and we’ve been together ever since, a fact I often remind Lacey. If he could bring out a frame every year, he’d do me a massive favour in reminding me it’s our anniversary. Anyway, enough of that soppy shit. Bravo Lacey and bravo Federal, this is a belter.
