Will Bennett takes us through the Cult Gateway
About the bike:
Another quality complete from Cult is the Gateway. Simple and clean with no over the top graphics with a silver/black colourway the bike is understated and looks the part. It comes in four colour options, each one with black parts; Silver, Black, Indigo and Red and hits the spot at just under £400. Ride wise it’s responsive 20.5” top tube might be too short for some, so just bear that in mind, but if you prefer the shorter setup then it’s bang on. The mix of Cromoly and Hi-tensile steel keep the price down a bit, with the combination of these two materials being a winning formula for completes in this range. Cult know what they are doing when it comes to completes so you’ll be in safe hands with the Gateway.
What’s their history and where are the brand from?
Cult celebrated their 5th birthday this year. But have a heritage that spans back much further back into BMX history. Headed by industry mogul Robbie Morales who made a name for himself in the late 90’s when he appeared on the first Roadfools Videos. He’s been at the forefront of BMX ever since and was heavily involved in the begins of Terrible One and Fit before going it alone to start his own formidable BMX brand now know as Cult.
What do the manufacturers say about it?
With the Gateway model Cult wanted to offer all the experience and expertise that goes into the high end Pro bikes in an affordable package to suit both beginners and intermediate level riders .
What’s the bike intended for and who is it aimed at?
The bike is aimed at the entry level rider who want’s to save some money but still experience the same ride quality as a higher end Cult
What is the geometry like and what is the weight of the bike?
The way the bike rides belies its price tag. That is to say it feels really good. Solid, predictable and ideal for the beginner.
Is there anything that could be improved on the bike?
It would be nice to see some removable brake hardware
