With a literal storm happening outside, there was nothing else to do apart from get fully involved at the Red Bull Full Moon Jam at Graystone Skatepark, Manchester.
A few last minute changes were made due to Storm Eunice, but this didn’t seem to put a downer on anything, it just contained proceedings to being indoors. The street obstacle room quickly became busy and full with everyone firing themselves at the wooden up ledge, each trying to find a line that would allow them the most direct run in. It quickly escalated with Antonio Smallwood and Ben Gordon being particular standouts. Feeble hard nollie 180s, feeble whips, unlucky hard 180s… It all happened, very quickly with spiced rum shots and Red Bull on hand to intensify the buzz in the atmosphere.
After this there was a flat-bar jam and high hop contest with various other riders hitting the obstacles down the middle. Tam Roulston‘s ‘bench’ gap to pillar bonk 360 was a personal highlight.
Later on, everyone emptied out into the rest of the park. Matt Harris, Henry Logan, Tom Russell, Ben Towle and a whole host of other riders handled the bowl, then slowly everyone gravitated to the down rail for a jam until the end. Up, down, over, back and forth, single hits, lines being linked, just like earlier it was non-stop, just this time the whole deck seemed to be getting more and more intoxicated which only fuelled the atmosphere.
Thanks again to everyone at Graystone for putting this event on and supplying everyone with ample rum, Red Bull and a place to ride for the evening with friends.
