BIKE CHECK: Jason Watts

Words and photos by Robin Pearson

Jason is quite a character. It’s been said of a few people before, but with Jason it’s actually true – he’s a one man walking party. He’s just totally up for it.

When Jason was in the UK for the Haro UK Tour, he got very into the British culture. Wetherspoons, whatever food Angus Gough suggested, and big bottles of WKD. One of my favourite B-roll clips in the Haro UK Tour video is when Jason is just casually necking a bottle of WKD Red next to Wakefield skatepark. Top lad.

That week in September, Jason was suffering from a dodgy wrist. And can you guess what helped him get through the pain and get stoked to ride? That’s right – WKD (or pretty much any other cheap booze.)

His bike was looking pretty cool so we decided to hold back the photo below – such a wild transfer. Check out the details on Jason’s bike and general life happenings below, and then watch the Haro UK Tour video again.

Jason hitting a pretty serious transfer between two deep ends at Livingston skatepark, Scotland.

– Tell us how you like your bike. Short? Long? Tall? Small?

“I like my bike to just be solid and dialled, like all average sizing, 21 inch frame with normal standover and simple front load stem with 9.5 inch high bars and any forks between 28mm-32mm offset.”

– What’s up with that colourway on the wheels etc? It looks kinda ratty, in a cool way. Is that your vibe?

“No, not really, they are just super cool looking when the right light hits them. They look dirty and brown but they’re actually a cool blue tie die effect in the light.”

– What’s your favourite thing about your bike right now?

“Probably the tyres, they’re so grippy and badass, I think they’re sick. And the solid OG Haro sprocket for sure.”

– Did it pick up any major scrapes while in the UK? That van was packed tight.

“Haha, nah it was all good, doesn’t bother me too much anyway, haha.”

– What you up to at the moment?

“At the moment I am down in San Diego filming a Haro Bikes video, which will be out at the end of the year.”

– What you got coming up in the next few months?

“Just heading back to Australia for Christmas and the summer doing the same old stuff, partying and riding with friends.”
