Shadow Conspiracy, based in Longwood, Florida, has been ripping and shredding since 2002. It offers a range of clothing and an extensive list of BMX parts, including bars, bar ends, forks, bottom brackets, headsets, brakes and cables, chains, cranks, rims, spokes, sprockets, tyres and wheels.
There is also a Shadow complete called the ‘Shadow X Subrosa Turn It To 11’. This fantasy bike features a custom Subrosa Simone Barraco signature ‘Noster’ frame and a long list of top-of-the-line Shadow parts – some of the highlights include ‘Captive’ forks, ‘Vultus’ bars and ‘Interlock’ chain in copper plating, custom-built limited edition ‘Solus’ seat, and limited edition whitewall ‘Strada’ tyres.
Barraco is only one of a number of top riders on the Shadow pro team – others are Seth Kimbrough, Johnny Devlin, Ben Hucke, Drew Bezanson, Trey Jones, Lahsaan Kobza, Scott Ditchburn, Paul Ryan, Albert Mercado and Joris Coulomb. There is also an am team featuring Tom Smith, Eric Bahlman and Mark Burnett, plus a flow team featuring riders including Kiwi star Jono Hopping.
Since launching, Shadow has released some great full-length DVDs and web edits. Highlights include the 35-minute ‘Into the Void’ film from 2008, filmed and edited by Devlin and featuring some excellent sections from members of the Shadow family, including Alistair Whitton, Owain Clegg, Bjoern Elvering, Ryan Sher and Rickey Bates, plus a great closer from Devlin himself.
