It’s hard these days being a BMX riding global athlete in a great big sphere of social media, a world that forces you to connect to your adopted audience on a regular basis in order to maintain your reputation in a totally informal way that actually counter acts the entire connotation of being social.
Nothing says ‘hit counter’ more, than a franchise pout
Instagram is great for many BMX riders, because before instagram they only had twitter and that involved writing which, as we all know, is for tories and teachers. A picture says a thousand words anyway, which is the worst quote because its 2014 (next week) and no one has even read more than 900 words since 2012. One thing BMX riders managed to master reasonably well was the Instagram photo pose, since BMX pros do this a lot within their hectic life regime. You roll up to a spot, the iPhone comes out and next thing its “Hey let’s get a photo” which quickly escalates inside your brain as “shit, is this a middle finger moment or do I go with the inverted Vickers tactic, shit I’m confused…I wish I had a fat joint so I could just blow the smoke up in the air”.
I wouldn’t get too stressed over this though; there are pretty much five options (which we’ve covered below) and either one makes you look so badass you’ll probably attract all kinds of sexual venom penetrating up and around your IG account like a pack of dripping dicks. – Dane Mirror
1. The American finger.
Most of the U.K embrace a Churchill style double finger assault when under fire from a camera lens however the USA based single style finger has always been popular. A real classic and if you cant get your brain to act quick enough then the American finger option is basically default.
Fact: The American finger has cropped up in every single frame of the Deadline DVD, including all single frames on the bonus parts and trailer, its now established itself as the go to pose move for BMX.
