Profile Racing was started way back in 1968 as a racecar chassis shop in Flemington, New Jersey by Jim Alley. It moved its operations to St Petersburg, Florida in 1971, and today boasts of being the largest and most sophisticated manufacturer of high end BMX and MTB bicycle components in the United States.
To this day, all Profile Racing products are one hundred per cent made in the USA, which could go some way to explaining the company’s success over such a long period of time. Its range, which includes hubs, wheels and wheelsets, cranks, bottom brackets, sprockets, stems and seats, is designed and built to last, and replacement small parts are sold for virtually every product it makes.
Since 2005, Profile Racing has also manufactured a special range of BMX products under the Madera banner, including hubs, stems, crank kits, crank arms, seat post clamps, sprockets and a range of pivotal seats such as a handmade, limited edition tan leather model in collaboration with Native Bikes. There is also a Madera apparel collection, featuring T-shirts, sunglasses, beanies, hoodies and belts.
The Profile Racing Pro Freestyle team features riders such as Chad Degroot, Mark Mulville, Jeff Klugiewicz, Grant Castelluzzo, Jared Eberwein, Mike Saavedra, Dillon Leeper, Ricky Moseley, Rob Diquattro and Jake Seeley, while the Flatland team is made up of Tyler Gilliard, Effraim Catlow, Alexis Desolneux and Konstantin Chernov. There are also international and Factory Race line-ups.
