Greg Illingworth flat out in Hamburg! Greg loves to go fast and hit transitions. He’s got the hang of it, that’s for sure! He’s also quite partial to getting involved with a portable ramp – think back to The Ramp II project. Greg totally crushed that, coming back with an awesome video.
Now we see Greg hitting a bigger ramp – Bananen Projekt (the ‘Banana Ramp’) courtesy of Monster Energy over in Hamburg, Germany. This thing looks legit, it’s pretty damn big and looks well suited to Greg’s high speed approach. Clock in above for a short one minute video of Greg hacking at the ramp in a couple of different spots. Highlights for me were the drop in and the downside footplant – a signature Greg move.
The guys involved did well to find that set up – the double wall arrangement is perfect for wallrides! We’re looking forward to seeing other applications for this ramp in the future…
“There’s no better feeling for me than hitting a quarter to wall after pedalling flat out across a parking lot or field. It’s BMX freestyle in it’s simplest & most original form. Pedal the bike towards a ramp, jump out, and come back down. You go faster every time you hit it and it feels better every time. Until you feel that scare. That “ohhhh shiit… shewwww” feeling… when you ride away laughing at yourself and happy to be alive. “That was close… I wasn’t sure if I was gonna hold on… But can I go a bit faster?”… That feeling is what I ride bikes for and nothing else can has ever compared to how that feels…. I love it.” –Greg Illingworth
