BIKE CHECK: Jason Watts’ Cult Walsh

There’s something different about Jason Watts.  His goofy-footed approach, his choice of tricks, his attitude off the bike, his skill on seemingly any terrain (of any size, too) are all Jason.

He’s goofy footed, yes, but you’ll see him blasting transitions both ways with zero stress.  Even pocket airs and alley-oop pocket airs are all opened up.  His choice of tricks has always been interesting, from the decade combos to the more recent dipped 360 / barrel roll transfers he’s become so expert at.  But it’s his natural style on a bike that makes him unique.  Nobody else rides like Jason Watts.

I ran into Jason in London recently and had a look at his fresh Cult Walsh frame build.  Read on.

Technically an opposite air. Not small. Lil Jon looking on.

– New frame! How does this one ride? What do you like about it?

I love this frame, definitely one of the best feeling frames I’ve ever had. The low bottom bracket helps so much with the big transitions and the long back end to lean on, I’m stoked on it.

– You stoked to be repping Corey’s frame? I see you’ve already been doing more pocket airs…

Super stoked to be running Corey’s frame, he’s a badass rider and close friend and he choose the perfect specs on this frame to let us do what we do.

– Where has this bike taken you?

This is fresh but over the years my bike has taken me pretty much around the world, places like New Zealand, UK, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Malaysia, Mexico, Puerto Rico and of course Australia.

– Tell us about the seat…?

My seat is a new Demolition seat that should be out in the next couple of months – super stoked on it and there should be more things about it soon.

Jason Watts Signature Demolition seat, out soon…

– You won the overall 2019 title at the Vans BMX Pro Cup. You still buzzing on that?

Yeah definitely stoked and didn’t really expect to do so well but at the end of the day came out on top, even when everyone could’ve easily won it in my eyes.

– What’s coming up next for you?

Still super busy with travelling for contests and building ramps so other than that just trying to stay good on the bike and injury free.

Thank you to everyone that makes it possible: Vans, Cult, Backbone, Demolition, Fast and Loose.
