I first saw Emerson ride at Rush Skatepark in Stroud and his riding blew me away, everything was so dialled, with his unique style Emerson fully caught my attention and since then I have been fortunate enough to ride with him a few times. Recently, we decided to go out around Cardiff and try and stack some clips for his upcoming Subrosa edit. As the session was winding down after a successful day’s filming we decided to shoot a quick bike check as his bike was in fairly good shape. So here it is in all its glory, Emerson’s dialled Subrosa whip.
– What’s your favourite thing on the bike ?
“I don’t really have a one favourite thing about the bike, the bike as a whole is pretty much exactly how I want it. I try to keep all my bikes pretty similar, short top tube, bars a little forward and a high seat. Not sure why exactly but just seems to work for me.”
– Tell us about that nub axle.
“The nub peg on the front is pretty simple really, it’s just a 17mm socket head cut down and welded onto a female bolt. It only really works in backwards grinds though, like fakie smith, fakie crooks etc but I just prefer running it rather than a 3rd peg!”
– 4pc bars and coaster, is that for life?
“4 piece bars are definitely for life, I kind of just prefer how they look and they do wonders for my wrists. Coasters not so much, I enjoy riding with one and the fact it eliminates all bitch cranking but I wouldn’t have a problem with going back to a cassette.”
– Any shout outs?
“Well obviously Nick Wotton for shooting the snaps, showing me round the spots and helping me film for what’s coming! Seventies and Subrosa for everything they have done for me: the trips, keeping my bike beautiful and always sorting me out with the soft goods! The boss man himself Scott Slugablaze for being a general slug over at Crucial BMX and all the homies for the many many sessions!”
