Rider: Ben Hennon
Trick: Footjam
Date: July 2009
Location: Deal Skatepark
I spent quite a lot of the summer on trips with Ben, weather it was on Vans roadtrips or shooting for his interview, I think I got to know Ben pretty well. One of the funny things about shooting for the mag is you’ll often spend a lot of time with certain people, getting to know them, seeing them really happy when pulling tricks or girls, stressing over tricks, going to hospital or sitting about waiting for the rain to stop. Then its all over and you go back to doing day-to-day shit. This didn’t get used because Levi Rogers had a shot at the same park doing an amazing nosewheelie. its also not that clear that this corner bowl is a bit over-vert.
Trick: Table
Date: Sept 2009
Location: Some trails in the Midlands
I went up to Nottingham to shoot some stuff for an article about The Make but I’ve actually known Tom for about 10 years now. He was on the NSF trip that filled about 16 pages along with the cover and contents of Ride in about 1999 or 2000. Even then, when he drank too much he lost the power of speech. He’s always been really good on his bike. This table was shot over the last set at some trails he’d been building on some private land. A shot of Tom doing a wallride ran instead of this one.
Rider: Chris ‘The Count’ Lee
Trick: Feeble up Smith
Date: Sept 2009
Location: Nottingham
This was also shot whilst I was up in Nottingham shooting for the Make article. The Count was probably the most productive rider of the whole weekend. Even after a messy night round at Tom’s house he still came up with the goods. The article only ran four pages so there were a lot of spare shots from the weekend.
