We’ve managed to bag a sneaky look at Proper Bike Co’s sprocket range. The Magnon has been available a short while and features the socket drive system for Odyssey Thunderbolt cranks and regular for all cranks. The new kids on the block are the dope looking Vanguard and Avant Guard which will be available just before Christmas.

PROPER MAGNON SOCKETDRIVE

This sprocket was especially designed to be compatible with Odyssey’s socketdrive Thunderbolt cranks. We’re big fans of Thunderbolts but they limited options for sprockets (Odyssey’s own Killington or some Tree sprockets) so we decided to make two versions of our Magnon sprocket. This is the one designed to fit straight onto the Socketdrive interface for perfect alignment and the elimination of any need for a sprocket bolt.
It’s got a Socketdrive/Nonagon bore and includes 19mm and 22mm spacers to fit most cranks (not regular Thunderbolts or 24mm cranks like Indent and Rig cranks).

PROPER MAGNON

We’ve been using this six spoke design since 2007 and it’s evolved gradually ever since. The 2015 version is built to last (again from 7075 alloy) and with detailed CNC machining for a refined look.
It’s got a 23.8mm bore (for Thunderbolt, Indent, or Rig cranks) and includes 19mm and 22mm spacers to fit all other known cranks (except socketdrive Thunderbolts)

PROPER VANGUARD

The Vanguard is designed to protect your chain during complex (or not so complex) grinds and is CNCed from 7075 alloy so you know it’s built to withstand as much abuse as any sprocket out there. It’s got four bolt holes ensuring easy rotation and a maximum number of grinding hours. It also fits half-link chains as standard, which is not the case with all guard sprockets. We offer a 27t option here becAUSE (depending on the bottom bracket height of your frame) that’s maximum size you can run and maintain clearance on crooked grinds. If you like your gearing on the stiffer side and a lot grinding that’s the perfect combination.
