We’ve managed to bag a sneak peak at these Hydroform forks from Eclat. The German firm have been working on these for some time and a prototype pair were on display at interbike last week. In laymen’s terms these forks use no welding at the dropouts, the tubing is formed using water pressure. The dropout and fork leg are all one piece. For years BMX forks have been fragile on these welds, especially if you’re peg based. Time and again you’d spot a crack forming in even the best engineered forks. We’ve seen peg bosses, 14mm front axles and dinner plate sized dropouts to help combat this, non really taking off due to the weight amassed. Here’s a link to the process involved, Hydroforming. Read that if you’re interested in the new techniques of BMX manufacture.
These are not due for release yet, as far as we’re aware they’ve not even reached the testing stage. We’ll no doubt feature them in the mag in the not so distant future. Until then, here’s a sneak peak from the set on display at interbike thanks to Eclat for the photo’s.
