From Ride UK BMX Basics
Icepicks are a natural progression from double pegs on quarters. Tip: you’ll find this one easier to balance on steeper ramps.
Tip: Use the left / right arrow keys

01
Before you start, make sure you’re comfortable sliding double pegs and have a good idea where your balance point is in the icepick.

02
Carve into the ramp much the same as you would for a normal double peg grind. This time though, hit the quarter with a bit more speed.

03
As the bike comes up to the top of the ramp, start leaning the bike in towards the coping. Keep the front end up though. Lean the bike in so the rear peg touches down and your weight stays over the transition.

04
When you’re in the icepick your balance point will be the same as if you were doing it on a ledge. You might find you have to lean back and into the transition more if the ramp is mellow. Like we mentioned in the intro, steeper and bigger quarters are actually easier to lock icepicks in than smaller ones.
