From Ride UK BMX Basics
The footjam is a staple of BMX ramp riding. A good set of shoes might help your feet with this brakeless trick. Once you’ve learned the basic footjam, you can experiment with variations like a canjam or a footjam to fakie.

01
Approach the quarter with enough speed to pop out onto the deck. You don’t want to be going too fast into this one.

02
Don’t carve too much either, you need to be hitting the quarter straight on.

03
When your bike comes out of the top of the ramp, start shifting your weight forward and over the front end. Before you start taking your foot off, you can practise this by just popping out onto the deck and landing on your front wheel, parallel with the coping.

04
Once you’re comfortable doing that, take your foot off and like the name suggests, jam it in your front wheel. Make sure your shoe is firmly against the forks. You need to take your foot off the pedal during the short time you’re in the air. Notice in the previous frame when the foot actually comes off the pedal.
