The 540 can be a really wild move on big ramps but you can start by learning them small. Have 360s dialled before you give this a go.

If you’re just starting out with 540’s, a big mellow ramp will help.

A vert ramp is ideal, although don’t worry about getting out of the coping just yet. The bigger transition will help you with your spin and make it easier to carve into it.

To begin with, learn 360’s on ramps first; it’ll at least get you used to the spin.

Once you’re comfortable with those, hit the ramp faster than you would for a 360 but not so fast that you lose control and go spiralling above the coping.
