The barspin hop is a fundamental trick in BMX, it’s common in most types of riding. If you ride street, there’s no better place to learn how to spin the bars than on some flat ground.

You can be rolling relatively slowly before you start to hop. Something around walking pace should be adequate.

Pull up into a hop as you normally would, only don’t put all your energy into hopping as high as possible.

Start levelling the bike out by pushing the bars forward. Your bike wants to be highest as it levels out. Again, don’t tuck up on this, you’ll be needing room to throw the bars around.
Barspin tip:
You can practise spinning and catching the bars by jamming the back wheel of your bike against a wall, pulling up the bars and simply throwing the bars around. This way you’ll get used to the speed you’ll need to throw the bars and also the time you need to catch them.
