We felt it necessary to kick off the Ride UK Scene’s Issue at one of the most southernly points of the UK. The actual choice of Jersey came about through a series of in-depth marketing meetings about whereabouts in the UK BMX was booming but not being specifically targeted and documented. Actually no it didn’t, it came about through a drunken conversation with Alex Coleborn in Scotland one night when we were shooting his Ride UK interview and filming for his Shooting.it web edit. I think it roughly went like this:

AC: “Yo Beddows you should come to Jersey and get some pics there.”
NB: “Is there anything good to shoot?”
AC: “Not really but it will be funny and different.”
NB: “Alrite then, deal.”

That was about a month or so before Christmas and to be honest I probably thought that it would never happen. At the start of March I got a phonecall from Alex asking if I was coming over as he’s gonna be there for a while staying at his parents’ house. Well that’s that then, I’m having it, so I booked the ferry and brought along Alan Cairns from Nottingham with me.
