Substance cranks
The Substance Cranks from BSD are produced from the waste produce of Iron Bru girders. Not really, they’re actually made from heat treated 4130 and are dope. 2.5 piece design which enables the whole set up to be tightened with just one 8mm allen key. The pedal boss is nice and chunky like a deep fried Mars Bar. But don’t worry there’s no weight gained, if anything these are super light for how tough they are. Heat treated hollow spindle and available in 165m and 175mm and are RHD/LHD compatible. Black or Chrome are the colours of choice, however a deep batter finish is also in the works.

Connector stem
Here’s a slick looking stem from the guys over at Stereo. The Connector is CNC’d from 6061 Aluminium with a 50mm reach, hollow bolts, laser etched logo while weighing in at 240g. I’d demand to see any bike on earth where this thing looks anything but dialled on there. Comes in a nice range of colours too, ours came through in polished (the best one), but also available in Black, Purple and Brown.

These Stomp plastic pedals from Xposure are really cool. Reinforced nylon/fiberglass construction not only makes these lightweight but super durable too. Hardened chromo axle and a DX style body design. They come in Black, Clear, Orange, Green, Red and Blue covering pretty much every base. Again check the price on these.

Here’s some nice soft grips from the lads at Bicycle Union. Finger print design with Union logo’s embossed into the flanges. They come with a tough nylon end cap and are available in Grey, Black and Red.

Effect plastic pedals
More goodness from the guys over at Alienation. They’re really churning out the quality produce at the moment, and these Effect plastic pedals are no different. Dual concave design and made from nylon/fibre compound for durability and weight. These are 418g, which is literally nothing! Knurled body and a heat treated spindle.

VX Front hub
This front hub colourway is so hot right now! Imagine this built up onto the Trans Orange SFA frame we have in this issue? So clean. Anyway, onto the specs, this is the VX from Cinema, with a 6061 shell featuring angled and variable width flanges to help reduce bearing seat stretch. Female SUJ2 axle “which is harder than chromoly” according to the Cinema site! We won’t argue with that, I saw Dan Lacey do a tooth to over tooth on this thing and it just laughed at him. Also available in Purple and Black.

VX Rear wheel
We featured the all new VX cassette hub recently from Cinema. Well, now you can purchase the wheel set. Here we have the rear set up. The VX hub is laced onto the popular 777 rim with 14 gauge stainless steel spokes and brass nipples. The blaque colourway is an absolute winner! The rear wheels set up comes in either RHD or LHD. With the likes of Dan Lacey and Nathan Williams both riding this wheelset, you know they’re right up there for durability.

Microlite seatclamp
There’s a couple of frames in the Proper line up, the Trawlerman and BSH come to mind, which don’t feature an integrated clamp. This is because they run this little beauty. The microlite seat clamp is investment cast from chromoly and is the neatest clamp I’ve seen in many a year. Now you can buy it aftermarket and it’ll fit any frame, which isn’t integrated. Available in a bunch of colour options too.

These guys have been doing the rounds for years! My first sprocket was a Gun Girl one! Have that. But moving into 2012 we have the Infinity stem from Xposure. Neat and tidy CNC’d 7075 aluminium construction, machined to safe weight, 50mm reach, 30mm stack height and they even come with different coloured anodized bolts. At a great price too from this British firm.
