SPOT CHECK: Stockwell Skatepark

AKA Brixton Beach

Words and photos by Robin Pearson

Stockwell is a mixture of the old and the new. The original park (built in the late 1970s) was the mellow snakerun style area and a few other banks, all in red-coloured concrete. In 2008 it was updated, expanded and resurfaced with the addition of the quarter pipe bowl and hips at the end of the ‘sausage’. What I love about this place is the fact you can go as fast as you like in the snakerun and flow around trails-style, then if you want to hit something steeper and blast some airs then you’ve got the steeper bowl in the corner of the park. A legendary spot.
