SPOT CHECK: Mount Hawke Skatepark

Cornwall's Old Favourite Newly Renovated

Mount Hawke Skatepark is tucked away amongst the greenery of the Cornish countryside. With it being there for over 27 years, it’s had a fair few refits in its time – the most recent being this year. In May 2016 the skatepark closed the doors and completely stripped out the majority of the park. The users of the park have been keen to get a bowl in there for some time and thanks to Four One Four there is now an absolute beauty of a bowl sizing up from 5ft to 7ft at its deepest. The vert ramp still sits in its original position and with the bowl being right next to it, the back of vert doubles up as a huge wall ride in the bowl – see photo below.

With the park containing quite a few structural pillars, Four One Four have done an awesome job at involving the pillars to work with different parts of the park.

Another rad attention to detail can been seen on the tight bowled corner in the top corner of the park. It’s got a fully tiled area just below the coping that even the best class bathroom fitter would be proud of! Other parts of the park include rails, ledges, wall rides, a pole jam and a fire hydrant. There’s also a 4.5ft spine mini, which is the perfect size to get your tech on. There are hundreds of different lines around this place thanks to numerous multi directional ramps. There’s still the original box section which is due its own rebuild next and the café serving hot and cold food and drinks through the day. All in all, Mount Hawke is definitely worth the trip!
