Boardmasters. A classic event in the UK BMX calendar. It’s just a mini ramp by the beach, but that’s why it’s so good. When the weather behaves, there’s great atmosphere down on Fistral Beach, everyone gets stoked and the riding goes off.
This year there was a ‘Young Guns’ contest, which was really cool. A few really talented lads doing some nice big tricks – no handers, one footed tables and a double tailwhip. The weather was pretty decent, it rained in the morning but cleared up for the afternoon.
The best bits were definitely the partying, surfing and riding with all the BMX crew. Also, cruising over to the Wooden Waves skatepark and having a session with Mark Webb, James Jones and Shaun Gornall, that was legit.
“Partying all night, then rolling home at 9am and riding finals. Classic.”
The hardest party boys were obviously the FTL crew… Plus James Jones and Gornall. At it all night, then rolling home at 9am and riding finals. Classic.
The crowd were stoked all weekend, Kaine Mitchell was a definite fave. His transfer was wild!
