When I first heard about a young lad from Bristol who goes by the name of Jack Dumper riding BMX with one arm it completely blew my mind. Logistically I was baffled. I didn’t know how it could possibly ‘work’, Got me thinking… Maybe he uses a prosthetic arm which is used to grip the bars? I literally couldn’t fathom how it would be do-able. Then I saw some footage of Jack riding and totally kicked myself, I mean why didn’t I think of it!? It’s so simple but absolute genius. The arm from his hoodie is tied to the bars to keep a tight grip. What an idea!
The main reason I’m writing this little article to ‘big-up’ Jack and his riding is because he’s been in the news. The Daily Mail published his story the other day and it seemed to get a lot of attention. I thought it was awesome to see an inspirational story which involves BMX making it in the big-time press. Massive amounts of skill, passion, determination and love for the sport on every level. So yeah, props to you Jack! Was also a pleasure seeing you smash it at NASS a couple weeks ago on the BQR Ghetto Jam course. Massive respect man!
