This is very sad news and I’m only writing about this because I think people need to know how awesome the BMX community can be. I received some news that Lee Sheldon, one of our BMX brothers had passed away recently. When a rider passes away it affects pretty much everyone within the BMX community, the amazing thing is how we all come together as one to show the love and support we have within our great community. I can’t even begin to imagine how devastated his family and friends must be in this very sad time. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Lee’s family; Dad Mick, Mum Christine, Sister Melanie and his girlfriend Louise.

After the service there was a cortege led by 14 of his close friends on their BMX bikes to Buxton Road Cemetery and personally I think it’s such an amazing gesture. Lee’s funeral service took place at St Edward’s Church in Leek on Thursday afternoon. Al Munger from Alpha BMX Shop knew Lee and closed his shop for the whole day to attend his Funeral. There was a very moving quote from Al on his FB;

“Lee Sheldon‘s funeral was a very sad occasion, seeing all his friends lead the cortege on their bikes made me feel very proud to be a bmx rider. and also very fortunate to have met Lee in my shop on many occasions where he always lit the place up with his jokes, banter and all round buzzing attitude to life, my heart goes out to his dad Mick and the rest of his family and his bmx brothers in Leek.”

Lee will not be forgotten.
