Spotted this article over on some tabloid rag’s website earlier about 10 year old cyclist Brandon Orr and couldn’t help but show you guys! I literally said “Oh my f**ing god!” out loud.

Young Brandon was out riding his BMX, fell off and punctured his leg with the brake lever on his bars! Had to be air-lifed to hospital and personally I’ve never seen a brake lever go into a leg before. I’m not usually very squeamish but the image above taken on Brandon’s mother’s phone was pretty gruesome and kinda hit home on a personal level! Can just imagine it happening… OUCH!

This does beg the question though… Is riding brakeless safer than riding WITH brakes?

We wish you a speedy recovery and hope this doesn’t put you off BMX, just look at Mat Hoffman he’s broken pretty much every bone in his body at least once and he’s still going on strong.
