Game Changer: Nitro World Games

Watch the World Games Live this weekend at Ride UK.

This weekend Nitro World Games is gearing up to once again make history, and Ride UK will be airing it LIVE throughout on the Ride website. As we all know, Nitro has already set itself firm into the history books since it bust onto the action sports scene in early 2000, with its epic and inspirational frontman the FMX legend, Travis Pastrana by pushing and progressing the world of action sports as we know it, and it’s had one hell of an impact on what we thought humanly possible. Worlds first tricks have become synonymous with the Nitro Circus family, with athletes like Josh Sheehan making history by being the first person, and probably the only person for the foreseeable future, to triple flip an FMX bike on an unimaginably huge ramp, but this is just one in a long list of jaw dropping tricks that continues to blow the minds of our industries.

So, now come the Nitro World Games. Their intention with the World Games is to expand on their hugely successful Nitro Circus Live tours, and adapt this system to include and enable a whole new judging format, which they, and many athletes feel, will offer a fairer points system for athletes and spectators to understand and will subsequently breathe life back into what they describe, as a struggling and somewhat tired worldwide action sports competition scene.

One thing’s for certain, it’s attracted a host of the worlds best athletes from across the globe all heading to Rice-Eccles stadium in Salt Lake city, Utah to compete in BMX, FMX, skateboard, inline and even our good friends, the scooter lot. Some big shot BMX names like Logan Martin, James Foster, Jaie Toohey and Anthony Napolitan are all in the line-up and everyone seems super pumped to walk away with the World Games title, I’m certain this weekend will set some records in true Nitro NBD style.

With a 2am GMT start time on Sunday 17th, you’re going to need to get yourself comfy, or maybe you’ll just be getting in off the town by then. Either way, grab a few beers, sit back, and enjoy the mayhem that will surely unfold. They’ve promised to change the game, they’ve promised more progression for action sports and they’ve promised one hell of a show, and if history is anything to go by, they haven’t disappointed yet.

Remember to tune in LIVE on Ride UK.
