A frame snappingly good weekend?

So this weekend a few frames around Europe decided they’d had enough of being treated badly and just gave up. Now there are lots of conflicting comments out there blaming this and blaming that, but when you actually think about it, it’s not the frames fault.

Shaun Haddlington’s frame snapped because he landed from 20ft  into a nosedive with only a small bit of transition left. Jason Phelan’s snapped after he lofted a massive three over the spine at The BMX Worlds after riding a frame for many months and giving it some of the harshest abuse in history! It would be very unfair to blame any of the manufacturers of these bikes, BMX is getting crazier, drops are getting higher and frames have gotten lighter. But, frames still snapped 5 years ago when they weighed 8lbs. The level of riding now is so high that ultimately something’s got to give, either the bike, or the human body…
