Yesterday we put up part one of our interviews with all the One More Brew filmers. If you want to read that, check it out here. This is the introduction from yesterday followed by the second half of interviews…
“We just got in an advance copy of the new collaboration DVD, One More Brew. It’s a Seventies/Project5 project which includes sections of video from Matty Lambert, Ben Green, Rich Wilson, Charlie Jobling, Ollie Wainright, Dario Demarco and Kyle Harvey.
Each of these characters represents a difference scene around the British Isles and each one has their own filming style and group of riders to shoot with. Over the winter, each filmer/editor has been busy shooting their scene for this collaboration DVD. The whole idea is pretty underdog, with nearly all of the people involved doing this in their spare time.
To get a bit more of an insight, we asked each of the filmer/editors some questions about the project…”
Matty Lambert
What is your filming/editing history?
I’m not sure how to lay this out, in a semi-list kinda fortmat?; The first full length BMX video I produced was “What Ya Lookin At” that was released on DVD in 2006. I started Nonstopvid.com in 2007 and since then have filmed a bunch of web edits including riders; Ben Lewis, Harry Main, Jason Phelan, Scott Ditchburn, Bengo and others. Last year I did some stuff for SJM concerts and filmed the Wethepeople section for the Ride to Glory DVD. At the moment I’m working on some projects for Mpora/Ride, Carhartt, Rampworx skatepark and my own Nonstopvid.com
What is One More Brew?
10 cities, 10 riding scenes, 10 filmers, 2 months, 1 DVD
What area did you cover?
Liverpool
Which riders are in your edit?
Ben Lewis, Jason Phelan, Mike Taylor, Bengo, Addy Snowdon and Paul Ryan
How long have you been working on it?
We filmed pretty heavy for two months
Any major hiccups?
Bengo being injured constantly.
Anything you’d change if you could?
I’m pleased with how it came together, everyone put in work for this section so i’m real stoked on that. If I could go back and change one thing though it would be the shot of Paul Ryan doing this yellow rail, I messed the shot up (it’s pretty shakey) and I don’t think it does it justice. Beddows got the photo though, you can see i’m not even looking at my camera. I think it’s running in this issue that’s out now so I guess that makes up for it.
Who’s section are you most looking forward to seeing?
All of them but if I had to pick one it’d be the Hull section. Rich Wilson put it together and them boys hold it down so I’m pretty excited about seeing that.
Joel Nicholls
What is your filming/editing history?
I’ve been filming and editing for about 6 years, I started studying media at college and just got really into it and then filming riding just came hand in hand with that, I’m now currently studying TV and video production in Southampton.
What is One More Brew?
What you do when its pissing down and your sposed to be out filming/riding
What area did you cover?
Mostly Southampton and a few clips from Trowbridge
Which riders are in your edit?
Dan Westlake, Rob Ferrett, Antonio Gashi, Cal Earnshaw, Alex Plumley, Dan Wiltshire, Michael Butlin, Dan Fortune, and myself
How long have you been working on it?
About 2 months
Any major hiccups?
The weather! and just generally getting people motivated to ride during winter
Anything you’d change if you could?
more time to get stuff done, and a weather machine to stop the rain and bring out the sun
Who’s section are you most looking forward to seeing?
I’m looking forward to watching all the sections again but after seeing the premiere at Liverpool the standout section has got to be Matty L’s… That shit was mad crazy!
Ben Green
What is your filming/editing history?
I started filming on my parents VHS camcorder at our local trails when I was 16. I now film on a Sony V1 and I’ve been editing for about 4 years, I mainly use Final Cut Pro but sometimes use Premier Pro. I have a degree in Media Production and also won the Nike Media Apprentice Competition in 2007. I now work for News International as a video producer and also do freelance work for companies such as Nike 6.0, Carhartt, and Rockstar Energy Drinks.
What is One More Brew?
OMB is a video project aimed at bringing together the UK scene over the dismal winter months. Project 5 asked 10 filmer’s to each make a 5-minute section and they would put them all together on one DVD at the end.
What area did you cover?
South London
Which riders are in your edit?
Dan Boiski, Alex Kennedy, Boi and myself.
How long have you been working on it?
We all had 2 months from conception to completion, I spent seven weeks filming and one week editing.
Any major hiccups?
Filming in December and January in England is by no means ideal however everyone pulled together and we managed to get some great clips. The police got called on one occasion when we were filming the red blocks at night but nothing too mental happened.
Anything you’d change if you could?
I wanted to film more with the red blocks we made but because of the weather restrictions, the block’s kept getting really slippery at night, it became dangerous to film for long periods of time. Apart from that I was a great challenge and a fun project to work on during the winter.
Who’s section are you most looking forward to seeing?
Matty Lambert’s.
Richard Forne Wilson
What is your filming/editing history?
I made a riding film called US & THEM in January 2008. I dabble in porn films.
What is One More Brew?
An endurance test.
What area did you cover?
COD LAND (HULL)
Which riders are in your edit?
Tom Sanders, Nath Rule, Carl Wood. Fez (Chris Wilson), Josh Kinsley, Myself, Adam Blyth, The Donn, Tom Hasnip, Sam Robertson, Charles Darroch, James Blanchard.
How long have you been working on it?
We were late starters so I think it would have been around 5 weeks, minus 3.2 weeks for bad weather.
Any major hiccups?
2 muggings, a dead dog and a broken face. As far as i know there was a chimp in charge of the film collation who decide to ring me up midnight the night before the premier to tell me the sound was not working on our section. Not ideal.
Anything you’d change if you could?
The weather, the weather, and the weather.
Who’s section are you most looking forward to seeing?
All of them.
Kyle Harvey / Kyle of Gypo
What is your filming/editing history?
I did my first bmx edit in 06/07 and since I have done most of the edits over on www.ls6bmx.co.uk (New website coming soon)
What is One More Brew?
A pain in the arse, filming over Winter was awful but essentially its a video showing off some scenes around the UK.
What area did you cover?
Mostly Leeds with a few visits to other places.
Which riders are in your edit?
No big names, just a few of the local Leeds lads who I ride with and hangout with on a regular basis,
Liam Oakes, Harley Wiles, Chris Jenner, Ben Murphy, Mole, Donnacha Carrol, Gez, Merlin Mason, Dan Paley, Kyle of Man, Mega-spin, Fathead, Dre, Jake Gunn, Danny Clayton, and Joe Bailey
How long have you been working on it?
I started filming as soon as I got the email off Gez asking if I wanted to do it, so I reckon about three months.
Any major hiccups?
Besides the shit weather, not really although Mole did get runover by a taxi after trying the blue double kinked rail near the Dry Dock, and one of the lads I was really wanting to film broke his wrist the first day we went out trying a huge 180 so that sucked.
Anything you’d change if you could?
Yeah, I would have gotten more footage and not been so lazy.
Who’s section are you most looking forward to seeing?
Probably Matt Lamberts / Nonstopvid, that sections gonna have all the heavy hitters in it.
ONE MORE BREW WILL BE ON SALE SOMETIME IN THE NEXT MONTH…
