The locals at Bolton Skatepark have simply had enough. We got wind of this ‘Pedestrian Hell’ a while back and even featured a video Nick Lomax put together which documented exactly what the local riders have to endure day in, day out due to sheer laziness. It’s pretty difficult to get a decent line in these days as you’ll know, the increase of scooter riders makes linking up tricks a bit difficult and we deal with that regularly but at least a small percentage of them actually have a bit of skatepark etiquette and look out for other park users.
Imagine having to dodge in and out of random members of the public who have probably never stepped foot in a skatepark and as you can probably tell by the video above are totally oblivious to their surroundings. The park gets pretty busy and on a sunny day it’s absolutely heaving so as you can imagine it’s an absolute nightmare!
As I already mentioned above, the issue is just down to sheer laziness. There’s a clear path leading from a Morrisons store near the skatepark and it’d literally just take a couple of extra minutes to walk around, but it seems the locals have had their fill and decided to barricade the ‘shortcut’ sending a message to the members of public who cut through and to the council & local news. In my opinion this is fair play. There’s been many arguments and even fights over this access issue and it’s all come to a head. What do you think about this, were they right to do so?
