In the lastest issue, (170) we featured the Texas Toast Jam in Austin, Texas. UK rider Lima, was lucky enough to head out there to hangout and ride. We asked Lima 5 things that you normally wouldn’t of heard happening and that we didn’t document in the mag. Here are Limas 5 things behind the scenes while he was out there…
1: JETLAG
So after flying from Barcelona to London washing my clothes then flying to Austin I jumped in a taxi to my friend Jareds house. He forgot I was coming. I was greeted by a huge black guy who’s a UFC fighter on the run from the cops. A young mexican kid called Lil A and Jared. When jetlagged it was a random scene to arrive to but I can’t thank them enough for putting me up
2: HELICOPTER CRASH
During street finals I got to see Greg Illingworth try a line and ended up crashing into a helicopter. Not a real one, but it was built by Rooftop. A helicopter none the less.
3: BIG SESSION
Monday after the contest I went down Eastside trails. It was like no other session before. It was like being in Anthem 2. Mike Aitken, Van Homan, Ruben were all there just watching. Foster, Doyle, Heath Pinter, Darin Read, were riding and the list goes on. I’m not sure what was better, riding or watching.
4: ‘HELL YEA’
Garrett Guilliams without knowing got everyone saying ‘Hell Yea’. Very contagious indeed.
5: TATTOOS
Sunday evening after a nice meal out with Andy Zeiss, Ben Hennon, Matthias Dandois and Alex Jumelin, we decided to head over to Side Bar. On the way Andy said we should get tattoos. 10 minutes later the tattooist is drawing up a piece of smoking toast. An hour later we all got texas toast tattoos. A couple of drinks later, Alex said ‘Lima this is the first time i’ve met you and now we have matching tattoos’. Sweet.
