2012 Round Up – Walter Pieringer

Our man over the pond Walter Pieringer came through with his 2012 round up. Walter has been sharing his talents with the BMX world for years now, here’s what inspired him this past 12 months.

What one rider stood out for you in 2012?

Chris Childs. I’d describe Chris’s riding as fast, big, smooth, and fearless. He can ride whatever the hell he wants, and he makes it look both really good and really fun. I think my favorite part about Chris’s riding though is that he has just enough looseness to keep things interesting but without looking too squirrely. Really feel like he’s one of the most underappreciated riders out there.

What one event stood out for you in 2012?

Well as far as I can remember I was only at two events in 2012, but nonetheless, I’d have to say Texas Toast. The vibe was awesome and the whole event was a bit of a breath of fresh air for the US contest scene that’s dominated by major TV events. I feel like everybody had a great time, and the whole thing seemed more about getting everyone together to hang out than it did about winning a contest.

What one Moment stood out for you in 2012?

You really want me to narrow down an entire year to one moment? Seriously? Well, I’d have to say either the second time I almost went to jail in India, or this one really weird night in Vegas. It’s a toss up.
