Camila “Goddy” Harambour isn’t a name I’ve heard before if I’m honest, but after watching this edit I’m definitely a fan. It’s so sick to see the rapid rate of progression within female riders in our sport these days.
Camila is from Chile and lived in Argentina for 15 years. There’s a bunch of quality skateparks to ride and the street spots in her country are plentiful with a pretty strong BMX scene to say the least!
This edit was filmed and edited to perfection in my opinion, everything flows nicely and the filming is on point. Theres a short intro at the start which gives a brief insight into the passion Camila has for BMX. As far as the riding goes, well let’s just say this girl kicks ass! Lookbacks on lock, she seems comfortable riding big transitions and there’s a few street tricks in there for good measure too.
Q&A with Camila Goddy Harambour
– Besides yourself, do you know of many other girls who ride BMX in Argentina?
“Yeah there are quite a few now, some good friends in Buenos Aires, Ana Zacarias from Misiones who’s been competing at the FISE events and some more in Cordoba and other provinces. The female scene has definitely been growing a lot the past couple years.”
– How long have you been riding BMX for?
“I started riding on 2002 so it’s been 16 years now.”
– What was the first ‘real’ bike you owned?
“It was a Haro Nyquist Backtrail x1. I still have the frame on my room all bent and scratched because I learned feebles with that one and I used to miss the pegs quite a lot, haha.”
– What does BMX mean to you?
“I’ve been riding for more than half of my life (I’m 28) so it’s hard to imagine myself without a bike. When I started riding I had to move to Argentina because of my dad’s job and going to a new place when you’re 13 it’s not easy at all. It’s the time of your life when you’re trying to fit in somewhere, so feeling pretty lost in a new country, BMX was what gave me some sort of identity and it was making me happy.
So BMX it’s pretty much everything for me. It made me have a goal, something to achieve, even if that was only riding at a park on the weekend.”
– Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Do you think you’ll still be riding bikes?
“Yeah I think I’ll still be riding. I’m already not riding as much as I used to but it’s still there and I still love it. As long as I enjoy it I’ll do it. That’s always been the main purpose of riding: to make me happy.
I’m living in Punta Arenas (where I was born) now and I’m building a house so I guess I’ll be here for a while… although you never know. But yeah, still riding, having a place of my own, traveling as much as I can and enjoying life with my dogs and kids if I manage to find someone to have kids with LOL. And hopefully having done something so we can have a sweet indoor park here (even if I’m here or now cause the weather sucks and the locals need to be happy all year.)”
