Big moves happening over at British Cycling with Jamie Bestwick choosing to step down as head coach after 7 medal-filled years. Declan Brooks has also decided to retire from riding in the team, having earned 2nd place at the first olympics in 2020 he can definitely say he’s been-there-done-that.
Jamie has helped team GB earn medals in every olympics so far including Declan Brooks 2nd and Charlotte Worthington’s 1st in the 2020 games and Kieran Reilly’s 2nd this year. Wherever he ends up will be stoked to have him! (…Team USA maybe?)

Declan has been riding the contest circuit since I can even remember and is one of the most level headed guys out there. Having ridden everything from the likes of NASS and Rom Jam all the way to the Worlds in Cologne and the Olympic stage he has got a wealth of skill, experience and stories that I’m sure will come in handy in his next move. He has recently started his @meandmybmx platform where he is helping the next generation of riders develop their skills. Could we see Dec step into a formal position in Team GB with this? I guess only time will tell!

With the outpouring of positivity on social media when both of the guys announced their news it’s clear they have both made a massive impact on the UK riding scene and well as the worldwide scene. We want to wish them both the best of luck in their next chapters!
