Is this another fad peering over the wall ready to pick up where the Rocker Bike left off? What is the deal with these things?

Above is Japanese flatlander Yuya Shiga who’s really really good. He’s taken one of these contraptions out for a spin. Clearly it doesn’t look as fluid as an actual BMX but Yuya throws down some good stuff. We all know tyres are gradually getting wider, but surely this is taking it one step too far?
